RULES

Members of The Legions Of The Light are required to:

SHOW HONOUR
  • IN SPEECH
  • IN ACTIONS OUTSIDE OF BATTLE
  • IN ACTIONS IN BATTLE

SHOW RESPECT
  • TO YOUR CLAN
  • TO THE AUTHORITIES
  • TO YOUR ENEMIES

SELF RELIANCE

  1. HONOUR
YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW HONOUR ON AND OFF THE BATTLE FIELD.

As a representative of Baeon, you must display exemplary conduct. However it is acknowledged that, in the business of war, some allowances must be made.

    SPEECH
    • In general be polite and respectful unless you have a good reason otherwise.
    • If you have a problem with a character, you are greatly encouraged to make full use of RP methods to debate and denounce them although try not to take it too far. Keep some maturity and self-respect. OOC is not RP.
    • If you have a problem with the person behind a character, there is no need for non-IC insults or slurs. Either explain your opinion without antagonism, or else ignore them. There is no need to provoke a situation and once your opinion is expressed, do not harp on it, once is enough.
    • Crowing over wins or whining over losses is unneccessary. Your victories will be blessed by Baeon, and any losses are a chance for learning and improvement. Neither should be a reason to play ego games.

    ACTIONS OUT OF BATTLE
Outside battle, irritating and provoking actions (such as socials or causing spam) can be classed as dishonourable. There is no strict rule for all situations, simply act with some pride in your position in Baeon's army.

    ACTIONS IN BATTLE
    As a very basic guide:
    • Do not loot unless the enemy is a verified lootable target.
Exceptions: You are permitted to take gold, potions, pills, scrolls, staves and wands as you see fit. These are commonly accepted as free game and a valid reward for the win.
    • Do not take part in mass killing any one target. (Killing the target the moment they reincarnate from the last mob, player or arena death)
Exceptions: TWITs, and targets that remain outside a safe room for several ticks after reincarnating.
    • Do not fight linkdead targets the moment you become aware of the fact. Since this is a very touchy issue and can cause great amounts of controversy, it is strongly advised that you log all battles!
    • If you become aware that your skill far supasses the ability of a particular enemy, it is recommended that you refrain from constantly slaughering them at every opportunity. Your enthusiasm could be better put to use fighting more ruthless enemies (OOC: Harrassing these unskilled characters will also discourage them from bothering with pk and could reduce the number of people interested in turning pk.) Carrying out this guideline is up to you. You are not being asked to stop fighting them all together but perhaps hold back a little and warn them before hunting them down.

Beyond that, honour in battle can include such things as: (not a exhaustive list)
    • warning your enemy before you attack,
    • only attacking enemies of similar or higher level of ability to your own,
    • not using unequal numbers to your advantage,
    • not attacking badly weakened enemies.

Following all of these would greatly reduce your battle effectiveness and as protectors of Thera, we are primarily sworn to defeating evil. So in general, it is up to your individual preference and conscience to decide the extent of honour in battle. And some enemies are so vindictive and ruthless that we should show them no quarter. In general, if in doubt, choose the more honourable option unless you can verify your actions with your Leader or a 2IC. And it is recommended that the more highly respected an enemy, the more honour should be shown.

  2. RESPECT
RESPECT WILL ONLY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO RESPECT OTHERS

    YOUR CLAN
    • You chose to join The Legions Of The Light. Display that choice by respecting its goals, its guidelines, its structure and by working to the benefit of the clan.
    • Your clanmates have valid opinions and needs. You are expected to respect these and to work cooperatively to support each other. Likewise, do not abuse their help, some self-reliance is highly appreciated.
    • Follow all reasonable directions given by a higher ranking member. And do not simply ignore the opinions of lower ranking members without good reason.
    • Spiteful whispering/conspiring against ANY member will not be tolerated; either make your greviance public, deal with it or leave the clan.

    AUTHORITY
Immortals, Clan hierachy and other figures of authority are in place for a reason. Do not take matters into your own hands until you have first submitted the matter to the relevant authority for them to deal with.
Yes, protocol delays things, but by making use of the right channels, you are likely to get a much more useful resolution than if you work as a lone avenger. And you avoid any potential backlash.

    YOUR ENEMIES
While they are your enemies, they often still have intelligence, a valid opinion and resources or skills that should be taken into account.
Remember that you can learn from them, they can have valid reasons for their actions and they may have an unexpected ability to defeat or otherwise affect you.
This does not mean that all enemies must be treated as a good friend. Some are truely remorseless and should be treated as such.
This also does not mean that you should neccessarily trust or help an enemy. Any member of LIGHT found helping an enemy (including evil loners), will be strongly reprimanded and disciplined if neccessary!

  3. SELF RELIANCE
Power leveling may not be asked for, or given. It encourages laziness and leads to poorly made characters.

Members who continually ask for new equipment, for help with quests, for spell ups or for transportation are unwanted since this shows they are not sufficiently resourceful and they become a drain on the clan.
This extends to Thera as a whole. It is a common preconception that all good-aligned people, particularly members of LIGHT, are here to serve the whims of everyone. I quote an excerpt from the "Good" alignment helpfile:
"Baeon's followers can help other players that ask, but they are not required to. It is possible to be "good" without being of much aid to others."
Thus, members are not compelled to help others if they choose not to, it is entirely up to them and their sense of RP.

NOTE: This does not mean that you are expected to do everything alone. Members have the right to ask for assistance, especially in life or death situations, but try not to abuse the friendship of the clan.
